New Product Spotlight: Red Sea Reefer Series

How’s it going reef enthusiasts? Blue Earth here checking in with some information about a great new product from Red Sea: the Reefer Series of all-in-one aquariums. The designers at Red Sea combined years of research with impressive design work to bring you an aquarium that provides a perfect environment for reef-keeping and looks great in your living room! The series comes in 2 colors and 5 different sizes to fit any location and budget: the Nano- 21 gallons; the 170- 34 gallons; the 250- 54 gallons; the 350- 73 gallons; and the 450- 92 gallons. Blue Earth has a black Reefer 450 here in our store if you want to see one in person…

So what makes this line of aquariums so effective as a home for your marine critters? Well it comes down to having both form and function. First of all, these tanks are very easy on the eye. The glass is both rimless and low-iron that gives you that crystal clear view into your underwater habitat. The tank sits on matte black or white cabinets that are protected in marine-grade, weather-proof epoxy. Furthermore, the tanks appear to “float” over the cabinets thanks to the recessed door layout.

A great looking exterior will only get you so far, how do the tanks perform where it counts- on the inside? The answer: extremely well… At the top of the central overflow rest several surface-skimming combs directly adjacent to an omnidirectional return jet. Follow the skimmer down the overflow and you’ll encounter a regulator on the down-pipe that when fully operational barely produces a sound. These guys are whole new kind of quiet. The downpipe then enters one of the other great features of the Reefer Series: a fully functional, glass sump. The sump features removable sock holders, protein skimmer compartment, bubble-removing cascade compartments, return-pump compartment, and best-of-all- an automatic top-off system that sits perfectly on the sump itself!
