Description

High-Output 4-Stage RO/DI System with Improved Waste Ratio

The IceCap 150 GPD RO/DI System is a four-stage water filtration unit designed for hobbyists who need higher daily output and want to reduce wastewater at the same time. At 150 gallons per day with a 1.5:1 waste-to-product ratio, it produces twice as much purified water per gallon of feed water as the 75 GPD and 100 GPD models, which operate at a 3:1 ratio. For hobbyists on metered water, in water-restricted areas, or who simply run through a lot of purified water, this ratio improvement has a meaningful real-world impact on water use and cost.

The 150 GPD uses the same Dow Filmtec BW60-1812-75 membrane as the 75 GPD, which provides 96 to 99% typical salt rejection. The improved waste ratio comes from the higher operating pressure requirement: 65 to 80 PSI optimal, compared to 50 to 80 PSI for the lower-output models. Hobbyists whose home supply pressure falls below 65 PSI will need a booster pump to achieve the rated output and waste ratio on this model.

The system is slightly taller than the 75 GPD and 100 GPD at 16" x 6.5" x 18", but the footprint width and depth are the same, so it fits in most of the same under-sink and utility room installations. All other features are identical to the lower-output models: auto shut-off valve, manual flush flow restrictor, glycerin-filled pressure gauge, and all installation fittings and tubing.

Key Features:

  • 1.5:1 waste-to-product ratio produces significantly less wastewater per gallon than the 75 GPD or 100 GPD models.
  • 150 GPD output for faster fill times on larger systems or more frequent water changes.
  • Dow Filmtec BW60-1812-75 membrane provides 96 to 99% typical salt rejection.
  • Refillable DI cartridge with color-changing resin for visual exhaustion monitoring.
  • Auto shut-off valve and manual flush flow restrictor included.
  • No power source required; runs on 65 to 80 PSI household water pressure.
  • Standard 10" canisters and 1/4" push-connect fittings.
  • Glycerin-filled pressure gauge included.
  • Same footprint width and depth as 75 GPD and 100 GPD; 3" taller at 18" height.

Ideal For:

  • Hobbyists on metered water or in drought-restricted areas where reducing wastewater is a priority.
  • Larger reef and saltwater systems where 75 to 100 GPD output creates a bottleneck during water changes.
  • Installations where the supply pressure is reliably 65 to 80 PSI without a booster pump.
  • Hobbyists stepping up from a 75 GPD or 100 GPD who want both more output and less waste.

Pro Tips:

  • Confirm your supply pressure reaches 65 PSI before purchasing. Unlike the 75 GPD and 100 GPD models, the 150 GPD requires a minimum of 65 PSI to achieve its rated output and 1.5:1 waste ratio. At lower pressures, both output and waste ratio will degrade toward the performance of the lower-output models. A booster pump resolves this if the supply pressure is marginal.
  • The 1.5:1 waste ratio means for every 2 gallons of RO/DI water produced, approximately 3 gallons go to drain. At 150 GPD production, this adds up quickly. Routing the drain line to a garden, lawn, or utility use is a practical way to put the reject water to work rather than losing it entirely.
  • Flush the membrane before first use. Run water to drain for 30 to 60 minutes before collecting product water to clear the membrane preservative.
